Year 7 Trip to the Royal Albert Hall

On Friday 12 December, 100 very excited Year 7s and 10 members of staff piled into a coach and set off to London to the Royal Albert Hall. They were participating in the annual CLIC Sargent Christmas Celebration, where over 1000 pupils from London and all across the South East come together to form a choir. In preparation for the visit, the pupils had learned a large repertoire of songs, ranging from Christmas carols to Disney medlies to rock and pop classics. Decked out in Christmas hats and white tops, the pupils spent the afternoon rehearsing under the exacting eye of David Lawrence, the principal conductor, together with other guest stars including Ricky Ancell from “Last Choir Standing”; opera singer, Summer; Inn Cha, the phenomenal 12 year old violinist and Urban Strides, a hip hop dance crew. As the time of the concert drew nearer and the Albert Hall filled up with expectant parents, the levels of excitement reached fever pitch. Then we were off, singing at the top of our voices and thoroughly enjoying performing to such a vast and appreciative audience! It was an unforgettable experience for the pupils and staff alike.
