Year 11 Mock Interview Day

Year 11 students at The Petersfield School have been smartening themselves up for a day of interviews. As part of the Information, Advice and Guidance initiative, they have spent time working with tutors to complete application forms, create CVs and develop interview techniques.

Officers from East Hants District Council, Councillor Hilary Ayer, two TPS Governors, Bill Pearce from the Kings Arms and Kathy Gunn of Connexions volunteered to formally interview the students, who could opt to wear smart interview clothes or their uniform.

Each interview lasted 15 minutes with an evaluation form for immediate feedback on presentation, appearance, posture, attitude, confidence and so on. Prizes will be awarded to the best interviewees.

Paul Harvey, Vocational Education Co-ordinator, said "No one likes being interviewed, but it is something that you can improve on with practice. This is an ideal opportunity for the students to practise their interview technique, and it also gives them the chance to really think about themselves and what they have to offer. We are very grateful to everyone who has given up their time to help today".
