Enterprise Day at TPS

Year 10 students at The Petersfield School tested their business expertise last Friday in a project set up by The Royal Bank of Scotland

The Challenge was to set up a business, tendering for the catering contract for the school's Summer Ball.

In the morning each tutor group was split into teams of 4-5 students who had to allocate business roles, calculate the cost of food, design their company logo and business cards and devise their "unique selling point". They then gave a presentaion to fellow students and tutors who were looking for an impressive sales pitch, and the best team was chosen to go through to the final in the afternoon.

The pressure was on as the entire year group assembled in the Hall for the short listed presentations. The winning team - Flash Food - comprising of Joanna Goss, Rebecca Goss, Rebecca Forbes, George Twiddy and jack Derbyshire, impressed the judges with their polished performance and sound business plan, and received music downloads as prizes for their efforts.

Paul Harvey, Vocational Education Co-ordinator, said, "The students were very enthusiastic about the task in hand, and put their all into it. I was very impressed with the ingenuity of their ideas and the confidence they showed in their presentations."
