U16's Girls County Final - TPS 0-1 Robert Mays

In an amazing game played by TPS and Robert Mays in cold wet conditions, both teams produced a match full of exciting football and commitment. Both teams had several chances in the first half, displaying some fantastic football. TPS were unable to break through the opposition’s solid defence whilst Robert Mays couldn’t find the finishing touch to put the ball in the back of the net. Cara Borzych kept TPS in the game in the first half along with some excellent defending from Katie Knight who held the back four in place. The second half had many thrills, Robert Mays grew increasingly strong pressuring TPS’s defence. Knight, Crew, Harvey and Warren-Mackie displayed some breath taking defensive skills whilst Robert Mays stepped up the play. TPS responded alarmingly and shocked Robert Mays with their talent. Evey Lloyd sprinted up and down the left wing showing off her stunning talent on the field and produced a crisp cross but unfortunately no-one was there to get on the end of it. Harvey, Long and Coombes both had injuries but convinced their teacher Mrs Taylor and her assistant Rory Campbell that they could play on . TPS and Robert Mays couldn’t finish in the second half and left it down to a nerve racking extra time of 7 minutes each way. Robert Mays kicked off And TPS overpowered them for the first half by playing one touch football, knocking it around and demonstrating how to play the game. It stood 0-0 at the end of the first half of extra time. The cold second half went underway Boyce and Crocker along with Cronshaw displayed some amazing football, Crew and Warren-Mackie both put in a tremendous amount of effort and played to their very best, some of the referee’s decisions were controversial and Brincat started to be penalized for little things. TPS let this get to them and one quick break from Robert Mays ripped open the TPS back four, this led to the goal. The final whistle blew and the TPS U16 County cup champion dreams were shattered. It was a thrilling cup final which could have gone either way.”

Player of the match with a tremendous performance went to Evey Lloyd.
